So as to enhance the teaching and research exchange between the east and west campuses, promote teachers’ professional competence and optimize the classroom teaching, on the afternoon of 4th December, 2018, the English group of Anqing Foreign Language School’s Junior High Department carried out the demonstration lesson for the two campuses in the mixed classroom of the east campus. Teacher Zhang Mengmeng with the English group of the Junior High Department showcased the public class. In attendance were Director Zhang Li with the Teaching Affair Office of the Junior High Section in the west campus in addition to all the English teachers from both the east and west campuses.
In this lesson, teacher Zhang Mengmeng presented Unit 6 Food and Lifestyle-Welcome to the Unit in the seventh grade English teaching. By means of blackboard writing and multimedia, Zhang Mengmeng introduced the food topic with the orange trees on campus. Besides, interactive questions were actively raised to adequately mobilize the participation of each student, which provided everyone with a lively, amazing and profound demonstration lesson. Moreover, the teaching contents were clear, the key and difficult points were prominent, the teaching links were natural and interlinked and the final emotional sublimation enabled students to apply what they’ve learned in class to life. On the one hand, Zhang Mengmeng gave full play to her ability and expertise, meticulously designing the classroom teaching in terms of courseware production, blackboard design and classroom activities. On the other hand, students were willing to communicate with each other with a high degree of participation. Not only could they complete the classroom activities according to teacher’s requirements, bu also allowed full play to creativity.
After class, teachers from the English group exchanged with each other in time to discuss the gains and losses of the classroom instruction. They fully affirmed Zhang Mengmeng’s lesson an put forward some valuable opinions and suggestions in the mean time, which laid a solid foundation for promoting the better development of English teaching and research activities in Anqing Foreign Language School and improving the English teaching level as well.
To conclude, the success of this open class for both the east and west campuses fully demonstrated the English teaching characteristics in our school as well as the mutual help, solidarity and progress among all the teachers from the English group!
